Anne's
Testimony
My
first church was Scottish Presbyterian. I came to
Birmingham in 1949 and until 1965 worshipped at Small Heath Baptist Church.
I attended Sunday School, Christian Endeavour, Girls Brigade and Youth
Fellowship, was baptised at 14 and went on to become a Sunday School
teacher and Girls Brigade leader. I married a non-christian at 25 and
moved away from the area. Although I carried on with youth work in
Guide Rangers and Duke of Edinburgh Awards, I ceased to be a regular
churchgoer. My youth work spans 40 years and am fortunate to still be
in touch with many of the young people and feel privileged to have seen them grow up.
It was a particular experience, nearly 25 years ago, that brought
me back
to the Lord. When undergoing an extensive operation, everything went wrong
and at one stage, I was pronounced dead. This led me to take stock of my life and there God's hand intervened.
I gave my life back to Him and although that was a contributing factor to
my subsequent divorce and some
really hard decisions, I feel that the whole experience has enabled me to
understand and help others. I have three grown up children. When I re-married nearly 20 years ago,
I gained a daughter and son-in-law and three
grandchildren, for which I feel richly blessed.
