Doug's
Testimony
I was born into a Methodist family and can't remember not going
to church. However, I made my commitment to Christ at 16 during a
mission by Manchester University students. My father died when I
was 19 and I began training as a "Local Preacher" soon
afterwards. My time in National Service was a "barren" one
spiritually but soon after I became engaged to a "good
Baptist" young lady. When we decided to settle in Wendy's
home city (Brum) in 1956, I transferred my membership to Yardley
Wood Baptist Church where eventually I became, for eight years, Church
Secretary. During this time I administered two changes of pastor.
My hobby, until quite recently, was Musical Theatre (as a
principal in operetta, and for a while as Chairman) but now I sing
with the Solihull Male Voice Choir.
