John's Testimony

I became a Christian at the age of 14 at a Scripture Union camp in Salcombe, Devon. Since then, I have served as Home group leader, Deacon, Church Secretary, children's Sunday club leader and Alpha course administrator.

John's Qualifications

London Bible College Foundation Courses: "Introducing the Old Testament" and "Introducing the New Testament".

Oak Hill Extension College Courses: "Historical Books of the Old Testament" and "The Writings of John".

I have just completed two years of the Bristol Baptist College Course: "Prepare for Service " which is a Baptist Union recognised course for preachers and pastors.

John's Preaching Emphasis

My preaching emphasis is characterised by a great love for God's word, my commitment to the message of the gospel and the desire to see the development of both the fruits and the gifts of the Holy Spirit in the life of the church.

All through my preaching ministry, I believe the Lord has been challenging me to be just as committed to presenting a clear message, as I would be in my "day job". I therefore, tend to use "tools" such as presentations on OHP or on "laptop" projectors to help the congregation understand the passages of scripture I am given to preach.

Whilst I often receive positive comments, on the clarity of the sermons and the challenge that they include, my priority is to be faithful to Him in my preparation. I therefore always seek to listen to Him before considering how I should present His message most effectively.

My wife Wendy usually comes with me to lead the service, leaving me to concentrate on the preaching.
