John's
Testimony
I was brought up in a Christian family (Brethren) and made a profession of faith
and was baptised in early teens. I began preaching in late teens. Most of my
early preaching was done with the National Young Life Campaign, some in the open
air, but mostly in Methodist churches in Gloucestershire. I have now been
preaching for over 50 years. In my mid fifties I experienced a
"filling" with the Holy Spirit. This I feel has made a significant
difference to my ministry. |

Eileen's
Testimony
I
too was brought up in a Christian family. In my teens I gave my
life to the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptised at Warley Baptist
Church. My shyness made me dread speaking in public, but in my
fifties, after a fresh experience of the Holy Spirit, I was
surprised by God calling me to preach and now I trust him to give me the thoughts
and the words! |

John
and Eileen's
Preaching Emphases
We
both have a general leaning towards a non-liturgical, free, mildly
charismatic approach, but we are very willing to vary our approach
to suit the needs and wishes of the churches where we take
services. We normally work together, with one of us leading
worship and the other preaching. We also jointly lead an
ecumenical Bible Study group which grew out of an Alpha course.
Our gifts are different but complementary (eg John feels called to
work with adults, Eileen particularly enjoys working with young
people).
