Margaret's Testimony

I didn't grow up in a Christian family. My parents would have called themselves 'Christian' until I told them I'd received 'Jesus as my Saviour'. I was 12 at the time and I must admit they did a lot to discourage me from following Jesus! Life was rather difficult for me as I grew up. Experiencing difficulties and opposition so early on in one's faith has certainly strengthened it!

Indeed, many years later, I can say that three members of my once antagonistic family have also received Jesus as their Saviour, and through my older sister's recent death, others have certainly been challenged to think seriously about the reality of having God in their lives.

Career wise, my life has been quite interesting and varied too: before marriage and settling into 20 years of primary teaching, I had worked with 'drop outs' in London, been a shop assistant, waitress and also did auxiliary nursing. Now, I am retired, both children are married, and I enjoy family gatherings, meeting with friends, and a variety of hobbies. I'm also quite involved in my own church eg lay preaching, participate in various ministry team meetings, visiting and helping practically where it is needed. We also enjoy having overseas students to stay in our home as a member of our family. Throughout my life I have found the Lord to be a strong, reliable friend and although the way has often been tough, His promises in the Bible have inspired and challenged me to put my trust totally in His faithfulness. So, now I am delighted to have the opportunity to preach the Word of God as a trained lay preacher.
